Introduction to Thangka Painting
This is an introductory course to demonstrate the traditional proportion methods of depicting Buddha Shakyamuni and traditonal Tibetan/Nepalese thangka painting techniques. It will include an introduction to canvas preparation (we will be using premade canvases for this course, but to provide information for those interested in a complete thangka painting course,) basic drawing techniques, basic brush handling, outlining, coloring, shading and detailing.

0.5 mechanical pencil
0, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 Round brushes
6 filbert brush (langue de chat)
2 linen cavasses 40 x 50 cm
If you would like for Nalanda to purchase the necessary equipment for you, please indicate this request when you register. The equipment is not included in the course fees.

It is helpful but not required, to indicate if you intend to participate on a day by day basis or to attend the entire course. Also if you would like for us to purchase the required materials for you (you should budget 60-80 euros for materials) please say so in your email, otherwise we will assume that you will bring your own equipment.
