Introduction to Thangka Painting

This is an introductory course to demonstrate the traditional proportion methods of depicting Buddha Shakyamuni and traditonal Tibetan/Nepalese thangka painting techniques. It will include an introduction to canvas preparation (we will be using premade canvases for this course, but to provide information for those interested in a complete thangka painting course,) basic drawing techniques, basic brush handling, outlining, coloring, shading and detailing.

Project A   Draw and paint Shakyamuni Bust (Head and Shoulders)

Project B   Draw and paint Shakyamuni Full Body on lotus throne w/Aura and ornamentations
