Chökhor Duchen with
Khen Rinpoche Geshe Wangdu
Saturday 18 July 2026
One of the four main holy days in Buddhism
Chökhor Duchen, the “Day of Turning the Wheel of Dharma”, is one of the four annual holy days in Buddhism. This year, it will be commemorate on Saturday, July 18. On these special days, as taught in the Treasure of Quotations and Logic, the power of any action is multiplied by 100 million therefore it is very important to accumulate merits and to avoid negative karmas.
After having realized enlightenment, Lord Buddha did not teach during seven weeks. Indra and Brahma offered a dharmachakra and a conch shell. They then requested Lord Buddha to teach. Accepting, Shakyamuni Buddha turned the wheel of Dharma for the first time at Sarnath, with the teaching on the four noble truths.

Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Wangdu

An incredible opportunity!
On this meritorious day of Chökhor Duchen, Nalanda Monastery is very honored and pleased to welcome Khen Rinpoche Wangdu.
Khen Rinpoche came to participate to the Great Monlam in Paris from 6 to 8 July before going to Switzerland. At short, he very kindly accepted Nalanda’s invitation to visit our monastery and teach on this very auspicious day.
Khen Rinpoche Losang Wangdu is the former abbot of Gyudmed Tantric College.
He is now the 103rd Abbot of Sed gyued Monastery (the first Gelugpa Tantric College) in East India. For nearly six centuries the teachings of Sed Gyued have passed directly from one great master to the next, never through recognized reincarnation, but through scholarship, tantric mastery, and unbroken guru devotion.
Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Wangdu is an excellent monk and scholar, a kind and wise human being, very down to earth and accessible.
In teachings, the Late Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche who knew him well from Sera, referred to him on more than one occasion in praise of his guru devotion.

Apoya a Nalanda
Sin un monasterio, es difícil mantener una sangha estable.
Sin sangha, no hay budadharma.
El monasterio Nalanda necesita que nos apoyes.
