Annual FPMT Hayagriva Retreat
“The Most Secret Hayagriva is the practice/commitment that Lama Yeshe gave to Lama Zopa Rinpoche to do the retreat every year for the protection and success of all the FPMT. So now that Rinpoche is no longer with us, we are organising the group retreat every year with this specific purpose of removing obstacles and bringing success to the FPMT organization, centers, projects and services. Nalanda Monastery is very happy to be able to gather all the conditions to make this very special and important retreat for the benefit of the FPMT and all sentient beings for the second time.
This year, Gomde Rinpoche from Sera Jey, one of the few specialists of this very special and powerful practice, has accepted to come to Nalanda to lead the retreat.
Gomden Rinpoche 's short biography
Tritul Jampa Kalden, known as Gomde Rinpoche, was born on 14 June 1973.
1987: Rinpoche was recognized by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as the 6th reincarnation of the Thirty-Fourth Ganden Tripa, Ngawang Chokyi Gyeltsen.
1979: at the age of six, Rinpoche began his monastic education at Sera Monastery in South India.
1988: at the age of 15, he join the Sera Jey monastic university.
2003: Gomde Rinpoche received his Geshe Degree. He also studied Astrology and was appointed as Tamdrin Lopon, the master who leads the Hayagriva rituals for the period of seven years.
2011: Rinpoche lead the Sera Monastery’s world peace tour in the United States.
2013: Rinpoche lead the Sera European tour.
2015: Rinpoche set up Zurmang Gaden Association in France to improve his Zurmang Gaden Monastery located in Kham region, in Eastern Tibetan.
2018: Rinpoche became the Abbot of Sera Jey Drophenling Monastery in Sikkim, India.
2026: Rinpoche is living in Sera Jey Canada Cultural Buddhist Center in Toronto, Canada.
A very rare opportunity!
Today, Hayagriva is the supra mundane protector of Sera Jey Monastery in South India, where only a few monks study deeply and practise Hayagriva extensively. The Most Secret Hayagriva retreat is performed every year at Sera Jey with all the monks, otherwise it is quite rare as it requires very qualified monks to prepare all the necessary conditions.

15.00 to 17.00: 3rd session
18.00 to 18.45: Dinner

To participate to the event
To take part in the retreat, one must have received the Most Secret Hayagriva full initiation from a qualified Lama. Gomde Rinpoche will not give the initiation.
The retreat will be strict. The participants should do the 4 sessions every day in the gompa.
Minimum suggested donation
To contribute to the organization of the retreat and the different costs involved (Rinpoche’s travel, various offerings including for the fire puja, etc.) we are requesting a minimum suggested donation of 280€. On top of that, one will have to pay a flat rate for the accommodation and food.

The participation for the Sangha is free. Sangha who don’t live at Nalanda will benefit 50% discount on food and lodging.
