His Eminence Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Delek is the 74th Abbot of Sera Jey Monastery and the previous Abbot of Gudme Tantric Monastery.

We have the great honour of receiving him in Nalanda this summer for a series of exceptional events: His Eminence will lead prayers, give teachings and give several initiations, including the Most Secret Hayagriva initiation.

His Eminence Jetsun Lobsang Delek is the 74th abbot of Sera Jey Monastery. Born in 1939 in the Karze district of Tibet, he joined Karze Monastery at the age of seven and began memorizing traditional monastic scriptures. His birth name is Lobsang Delek, and he was given the ordained name Ngawang Soepa when he was newly ordained at seventeen.

In 1959, he fled to India, where he continued his Buddhist philosophical studies at Buxar in northern India. In 1968, he received full ordination from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. In 1982, he was honored with the prestigious Lharam Geshe degree.

In 2005, he was enthroned as the abbot of Gudme Tantric Monastery. Then, in May 2012, he became the 74th abbot of Sera Jey Monastery. He is deeply committed to teaching and regularly offers initiations and oral transmissions to his students.

Khensur Rinpoche, a Tibetan monk and master, is sitting on a throne, holding a sacred text.
