Mindfulness Based Living Course
With Mabel Odessey
Starting 23 April 2022
At Nalanda Monastery
About the course
The Mindfulness Based Living Course (MBLC) is built upon the work of international mindfulness teacher Rob Nairn and includes all the principles of Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme with the addition of compassion.
The aim is to help participants develop a mindfulness practice that can be applied in both personal and professional life.
MBLC is an introductory eight-week course to learn more about secular compassion-based mindfulness, it is experiential and offers participants some simple tools for making mindfulness an ongoing part of their life.
All you need to bring with you is an open mind and a sense of curiosity. We all come to the course with hopes and objectives, however, in order to experience the present moment, we must leave expectations at the door.
MBLC is an 8-week course consisting of eight classes (two hours long), preceded by an introductory class and concluded by follow up session week 9. A day of mindfulness practice is also typically included between weeks 6 and 7. It is encouraged to attend all sessions and engage in a daily personal practice in-between classes to get the most from the course. The course manual and links to guided practices will be included.
The weekly themes are:
- Introductory Session – What is Mindfulness and Why Practice It? 23rd April
- Session 1 – Start Where We Are 30th April
- Session 2 – The Body as a Place to Stay Present 7th May
- Session 3 – Introducing Mindfulness Support 14th May
